HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) _ A 20-year-old Hartford man has been sentenced to 55 years in prison for killing two people and shooting two others over a nine-day period last year.
Charles Wilson had pleaded guilty to two counts of felony murder and two counts of first-degree assault.
The Hartford Court reports (http://cour.at/RiD4p1) Judge Joan Alexander told him at his Friday sentencing his ?horrific crimes cannot be tolerated in a civilized society.?
Prosecutors said Wilson, then 18, killed two men during May 2011 robberies in which he wasn?t threatened. He injured two innocent bystanders in a separate incident while trying to shoot another man.
Wilson?s lawyer said he?d been left to fend for himself as a child and ended up in a gang. He noted no relatives came to the sentencing.
Wilson apologized in court to his victims? families.
